New Scandinavian Design Of Lappset’s Wooden Playground Classic

Lappset Group, a Finland-based playground equipment manufacturer and producer of themed attractions, has reshaped its wooden playground classic, the Finno range with new Scandinavian design, bright and fresh colours as well as playful functions. The revamping has been done with great care and respect to the heritage of the company’s most popular playground product range worldwide.

“In the design work, we paid attention to the already established and well-known functions when redesigning the product family to match contemporary design language. We wanted to create a form that would be airy, light and fresh. Our goal was to apply a Scandinavian and modern style into the new Finno.”

Besides the new design, major improvements to the functions and technical features were made to the new Finno during the refurbishing process.

Scandinavian Design With Fresh Colour Combinations

The design language of new Finno follows the plain Scandinavian design. The structure of the range is more open and airy than before; the beams are a little bit thinner than before and the climbing functions in the climbing walls are partly transparent.

Square posts and rectangular beams signify the design of wooden components. One can still recognize the new Finno as one of Lappset’s playground range through the groove being still a significant part in between the posts. It strengthens the construction and enables an easier installation at the same time being an important aesthetic feature. Installation instructions and joint techniques have also been significantly improved.

“Colours are an essential part of the new Finno. By harmonizing the colour scheme, we wanted to offer both classical and modern, fresh colours. Our goal was to create a new Finno with multiple and variable options that would fit traditional environments and modern area designs.”
The colour options available of the new Finno are Lime Green, Apple Red, Tuttifrutti, Liquorice Grey and Candy Fuchsia.

Perfect Combos With Other Product Ranges Of Lappset

Thanks to its modern design language and harmonious colours, the new Finno is easy to combine with other product ranges of Lappset. The Fitness range for adults and the Senior Sport for active ageing are a couple of examples to which the new Finno range suits perfectly to form a unique combination of modern play and exercise area for several generations.

Carefully Chosen Materials

Materials of the new Finno have been carefully chosen. The structure, materials and coatings sustain different weather conditions and heavy use. The structure is made of Finnish PEFC certified pine, a sustainable and ecological raw material. The customer can choose a carefree HPL (high pressure laminate) for walls and slides.

There are several mounting options available. The new Finno can be assembled deep mounted without or with concrete. Surface mounting is also possible for e.g. indoor solutions.

Design Is A Team Work

A multiprofessional team consisting of industrial designers, engineers, mechanical engineers, sales persons, marketing, systems experts, and representatives of the production and warehousing, testing staff and technical documentation experts participated in the design work.

Customers, architects, landscape designers and graphic designers were also closely involved in the design process.

“A team consisting of different professionals and experts helped us to recognize different needs, meet challenges and map requested features of the new Finno. The customer’s aspect gave us valuable insight to our design work when it comes to play value, environmental and ethical perspectives as well as demand.”

Lappset’s classic Finno range has been in production since 1974. The new Finno range was first launched in Finland followed by international launch in November. The Finno range is fully complient with EN 1176 safety norms.
