Lindab's solution wins the "Stora Inneklimatpriset" (Major Indoor Climate Award)

Lindab and its innovative UltraLink solution won the "Stora Inneklimatpriset", which was awarded during a gala evening for the indoor climate industry at Skansen in Stockholm. The award was presented by Alf Karlsson, State Secretary for the Minister of Housing and Digitalisation, Peter Eriksson (MP).

UltraLink is a unique solution which changes the way flows and temperatures are measured in our ventilation systems. By providing more exact and thorough measurements even in low flows and air speeds, it offers major benefits in terms of energy efficiency, simplicity and cleaning. In the indoor climate solutions of the future, UltraLink will be seen as an important component, as its properties enable energy benefits that are in line with climate goals and contribute to achieving them.

The technology behind UltraLink is based on ultrasound sensors, which means there are no protruding parts on which dirt can collect. Instead, it offers uninterrupted airflow with reduced pressure loss.

This is what Bengt Andersson, Product & Marketing Director at Lindab, says about the award:

"It is really positive for Lindab and for the solutions which we use. It's a confirmation of the substantial efforts that we have been put into producing an entirely new type of technology to measure flows and temperature in ventilation systems. This measurement technology creates new possibilities to optimise and achieve energy efficiencies in a way that was not previously possible. Up to now, it is a unique method for the entire sector and we are really pleased that it is receiving attention in this way," concludes a happy Bengt Andersson.

Jury's motivation

UltraLink is a product which uses ultrasound to measure air flow and temperature in ventilation ducts. The product enables continuous and thorough measurement within a large measuring range, from low to high air velocities. As there are no protruding parts in the airflow, the equipment does not create any unnecessary flow resistance, and neither are there any parts that get dirty and clogged up – which contributes to the correct function being retained over a long period. UltraLink provides innovative new possibilities for energy efficient control of air volumes and facilitates adjustment and air. The fact that the air flows are those intended is necessary, both in order to ensure the quality of the indoor air and to achieve a high degree of energy efficiency.

What is the "Stora Inneklimatpriset"?

The "Stora Inneklimatpriset" was set up in 2001 by Svensk Ventilation, Energi- och miljötekniska föreningen (Society of Energy and Environmental Technology), Svenska kyltekniska föreningen (Swedish Society of Refrigeration) and Slussen.biz. The award is given to a company or an organisation in the fields of indoor climate, energy and HVAC which has developed a significant product, service or method that can be put to practical use. The product/service/method must be innovative, contribute to better indoor climate and long-term limited use of resources.

The aim of the "Stora Inneklimatpriset" is to generate more interest in indoor climate technology, reinforce its position and highlight technologies that promote a healthy indoor climate in energy-efficient buildings.

The award jury consists of members from the three branch organisations as well as chairman Lars Ekberg, Associate Professor in installation technologies at Chalmers University of Technology and manager of the business area Property companies and industry at CIT Energy Management AB.

The three other nominees were HSB, Swegon and IUC Utbildningscentrum.

Topics

At Lindab, good thinking is a philosophy that guides us in everything we do. We have made it our mission to create a healthy indoor climate – and to simplify the construction of sustainable buildings. We do this by designing innovative

products and solutions that are easy to use, as well as offering efficient availability and logistics. We are also working on ways to reduce our impact on our environment and climate. We do this by developing methods to produce our

solutions using a minimum of energy and natural resources, and by reducing negative effects on the environment. We use steel in our products. It’s one of few materials that can be recycled an infinite number of times without losing any of its properties. This means less carbon emissions in nature and less energy wasted.
