Ljungbergs Textile is invited to 'HOME in the WOODS nyc'

Ljungbergs Textile or Ljungbergs Factory, since the company just changed its name, is proud to have been invited to the ‘HOME in the WOODS nyc’ exhibition that is a story about bringing the Nordic tradition and new design work, with a relation to nature, to New York.

The exhibition presents both the historical strength and consistency as well as new progression of the Nordic heritage of innovative and highly creative design.

Sven Markelius that has designed several patterns for Ljungbergs Factory presents the historical part and is also strongly connected to New York. In 1952, when the word famous pattern ”Pythagoras” was created, he worked with Le Corbusier, Oscar Niemeyer and Bengt Lindroos among others in an architectural group designing the UN-buildings in New York. Sven’s task was to design the ECO-SOC session hall for economical and social issues. Until the beginning of this year the Pythagoras fabric was hanging in the background of the main scene in the session hall. The pattern was very”daring” for its time.

The modern era of Nordic Design is presented in the exhibition among others by Nyström Persia that is a close co-operation partner to Ljungbergs Factory. HOME in the WOODS nyc is a story about bringing The Nordic tradition and new design work,with a relation to nature, to New York.The exhibition aim to give a distinct direction as a whole by content and execution. A range ofcarefully selected pieces shows historical strength and consistency and a new progression ofthe Nordic heritage of innovative and highly creative Design.The designers in the show share an outspoken focus on the Nordic design tradition andcraftsmanship’s in foremost wood, high quality and sustainable vision. Examples that are rootedin the launch of Scandinavian design in the US, 'SWEDISH MODERN', bridging intothe NEW NORDIC via the latest products by well established companies that keep the traditionand revitalize their collection to new companies with leading designers and also individual youngemerging designers.Grounding with a few very rare pieces and historical documents by BRUNO MATHSSON andSVEN MARKELIUS as two historical examples that have direct connection to New York’s historyat MoMA and the UN. Two masters that still maintain high relevance for Nordic Architects anddesigners today.The 'NEW NORDIC' is a selection of new products, including visualized concepts, designed byblend of established and emerging designers.
