Magine Revolutionises Access to Pay TV Content in Germany - with no requirement to purchase anything else

Magine TV (www.magine.com) - the leading cloud-based TV aggregation app and platform - is making European television history by providing premium pay TV channels in Germany for the first time without any requirement to purchase any other content or service. From Thursday 18th February 2016, Magine TV viewers in Germany (traditionally one of the most challenging and competitive television markets in Europe) will be able to gain direct and immediate access to exactly the pay TV content that they want. Stand-alone premium content packages will be offered for just €2.99 per month each, including themes such as ‘Kids’ and ‘Film and Series’. More themed content will be launched in the coming months.

This revolutionary shift within the European TV landscape is possible as a result of Magine TV’s strong industry relationships, and a significant level of trust from content providers. The move in Germany also reflects the next steps in Magine TV’s journey towards providing a truly personalized global TV service: ‘TV for Me’.

Ambuj Goyal, CEO of Magine TV, comments: “This new model of premium content viewing reflects an international consumer shift towards an on-demand and personalized entertainment. Viewers only want to pay for what they actually watch. The German TV industry is moving towards a model with frictionless content distribution, where the core value is the amazing content, and not the complex contracts. Magine TV is becoming the catalyst for this change. We are standing up for the viewer while working very closely with the industry.”

About Magine TV:

With its head office based in Stockholm, Magine TV launched commercially in March 2013 in its native Sweden, and in Germany in April 2014, hosting some of the world’s best known brands and channels in each territory, including Discovery, Fox, Nickelodeon, CNN International, BBC, Eurosport, and National Geographic, as well as channels from key national broadcasters. In August 2015, Magine TV also launched a beta service in the UK. New market roll-outs and partnerships are planned for 2016.

In September 2015, Magine TV acquired Plejmo, the largest independent streaming service for movies in the Nordic region, allowing for greater VOD development within the Magine TV platform.

As one of the pioneering European companies in cloud-based TV aggregation, Magine TV is also developing different ways to support partners in new and growing markets, offering a range of dynamic working models from pure white label services, to joint commercial ventures. With three years of operational experience in some of the most advanced consumer TV markets in Europe, Magine TV is able to offer its platform to TV industry stakeholders in new markets on a global scale.

With a strong focus on the excitement of live TV, Magine TV is the missing piece in the app-based and online viewing habits that have emerged recent years - allowing viewers to watch their favourite shows across all screens and devices, both live and on catch-up.
