Celebrating the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize – information to the media

The Nobel Peace Center celebrates the new Peace Prize laureate(s) with a live screening of the announcement 10 October. On Saturday 11 October, the public and media are invited to an open day where Jagland and Lundestad will hold lectures on the new Peace Prize laureate.

- The Peace Prize announcement is the highlight of the autumn, in all ways shaping the rest of our working year at the Peace Center. In just eight weeks, the new laureate will open the exhibition about him/herself, and we are eagerly awaiting who the Committee has decided on this year!, says Executive Director Bente Erichsen at the Nobel Peace Center.

Friday 10 October

11.00 Announcement of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. The announcement will be transmitted live at the Nobel Peace Center, mineral water is served, and the public admission is free for all.

14.15 The new laureate(s) get their own screen in the installation called the Nobel Field, where all Nobel Peace Prize laureates through history are featured.
Good opportunities for film and photo. 

Executive Director Bente Erichsen and Director of Exhibitions Liv Astrid Sverdrup are available for interviews in connection with the new laureate(s) and the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Exhibition. 

From 10.30 to 14.00, we have Wikipedians here to update Wikipedia on information on the new Nobel Peace Prize laureate.


Saturday 11 October

The Nobel Peace Center celebrates the 2014 Peace Prize laureate(s) with an open day and free admission for all. 

Junior experts from the Children’s Peace Club walk around the museum talking to the visitors about the new Nobel Peace Prize laureate from 11.15. At 11.45, the children receive Jagland and Lundestad in the Entry Hall. 

12.00 Thorbjørn Jagland, Leader of the Nobel Committee, gives a talk on the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and unveils the official diploma. (In Norwegian)

13.00 Geir Lundestad, Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, gives a talk on the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate. (In English)

There will be possibilities for short interviews between the lectures. 

Guided tours all day: 
In Norwegian: 11.00, 13.00, 14.00, 15.00, 16.00 and 17.00.
In English: 11.00, 14.00, 15.00, 16.00 and 17.00.

Texts and images on the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate will be included in the museum installations the Nobel Field and the Wall Papers.
