Press release -

Press Viewing of the Peace Prize Exhibition 2016

Peace Prize Laureate Juan Manuel Santos will open this year’s Peace Prize Exhibition Sunday 11 December. The press is welcome to a preview of the exhibition on Friday 9 December from 10:00 to 16:00.

This year’s Peace Prize Exhibition is called Hope over Fear and it is a unique portrait of President Juan Manuel Santos and the Colombian people. On commission for the Nobel Peace Center, the Danish photographer Mads Nissen has spent almost three weeks in Colombia. Together with journalist Dorrit Saietz, Nissen has visited a FARC camp, a cocaine laboratory, the presidential palace and the back streets of Bogota.

By using a camera and a pen they describe/portray the President and the Colombian people. A people who is tired of war and violence, who is longing for peace, who is living the peace already - building it day by day.

-This year’s Peace Prize Exhibition has a tremendous power. Nissen’s photos express both a strong will for peace and a courage to do what it takes for the process to succeed, says Executive Director Liv Tørres at the Nobel Peace Center.

The exhibition is shown on the second level of the Nobel Peace Center, and consists of large photos. Dorrit Saietz’ texts are available/presented in a folder inside the exhibition. The folders will be available in Norwegian, English and Spanish.

Hope over Fear is the twelfth consequential Peace Prize Exhibition at the Nobel Peace Center. The exhibition is made in two hectic months, from the announcement of the Peace Prize laureate in October, until the exhibition is opened by the laureate on 11 December.

The Peace Prize Exhibition opens to the public 12 December at 12.00.

The exhibition is open to the press Friday 9 December from 10:00 to 16:00.

Interviews upon request.
