Marika Wӕrn takes over the reins at NCSC, Nordic Council of Shopping Centers

Marika Wӕrn takes over after Agneta Uhrstedt, who has been General Secretary for the past 17 years at NCSC, the association of the shopping center industry in the Nordic countries. Marika has an international background with experience in building up her own business in Russia with the biggest shopping centers as customers and also experience in real estate development.

Marika Wӕrn sees as her main task to raise NCSC ’s profile, develop NCSC role as a creator of public opinion for the shopping center industry as well as develop the Nordic cooperation. Marika hopes add an international perspective which she brings from her previous experiences.

"First and foremost we wish to welcome Marika as the new head of NCSC, we are delighted that she is taking this mission. We look forward to a stronger industry association, with increasing visible presence in the Nordic countries”, says NCSC 's Board of Directors by Wilner Anderson, Chairman.

Marika Wӕrn grew up outside Vänersborg, in the southwest of Sweden where her interest in real estate development and management developed early. Marika has a BSc from the University of Westminster, London in Property Development and has previously worked for EF as Project Manager for five years where she built offices and schools in several countries in Europe and beyond. During her time with EF Marika got to know Eastern Europe and especially Russia.

Marika has spent seven years living in Moscow, where she, among other things established and was Managing Director of Russia's first and largest interior landscaping company with several of Russia's largest shopping centers and customers. Marika sold the company in 2011which had over 200 customers and 40 employees.

After 14 years abroad Marika returned to Sweden in 2010 where she has worked with executive recruitment and property projects until now.

Marika Wӕrn is looking forward to the new challenge as Managing Director of the Nordic Council of Shopping Centers. She sees her main role in raising the association's visibility and status and actively contribute to a more balanced reporting on the industry in the Nordic media.

"NCSC shall be the natural point of contact for all matters related to the shopping center market in the Nordic region. We want to be first with the latest reports and statistics and broaden the knowledge of the industry”, says Marika.
