op5 launches secure monitoring on mobile devices for iOS

op5 today launches a mobile app for iOS following up on the launch of the op5 Monitor App for Android earlier this summer. The app helps system administrators keep control of their IT environment, whenever and wherever they are. The op5 Monitor App for iOS is launched together with op5 Monitor 7.0, also available today. 

As an increased number of system administrators turn to mobile devices for information on server and network status, the number of mobile security attacks are drastically increasing. Mobile devices are also by nature more likely to be stolen or lost. Unsecured mobile monitoring apps risk ending up in the hands of illicit users, giving them with access to central monitoring solutions, often directly connected to the organizations’ most vital IT and business systems. op5 addresses the security challenges by introducing a secure mobile app, offering IT staff a convenient and safe path to mobile server monitoring.

The problem with a vast majority of the mobile monitoring apps available on the market is that they rely on old CGI script for communication between the client and the server. The op5 Monitor App addresses the security issues by giving IT-staff mobile access to the op5 Monitor system using REST API and SSL Certificate Validation, making the app unique on the market.

The mobile app presents information in easily accessible list-views, displaying host, services and status with clear color marks. With the help of smart filters, op5 users can tailor the views and lay-out to match their individual needs. If a problem occurs within the IT environment, the administrator can acknowledge and comment on the event directly from their smartphone or surfpad. In this way issues can be addressed without the need to return to their desk.
