Press release -
We have something to tell you
This is what we think: There is a story, a thought behind every piece that is created. Not the least our glass products. And we believe in curiosity and the power of sharing these stories with you. That is why we will create a short movie for every product we have. Sometimes you will get it right away, sometimes the story will leave you bewildered and longing for knowing more. But this is just how art and design works, right? We have started by telling about thirty or so of our stories. Please take a look at http://www.kostaboda.com
This is just one of the things we wanted to tell you about. Here are exciting Kosta Boda product news coming out this fall:
Wide Life Babies
Design by Ludvig Löfgren
It gives us great pleasure to announce the arrival of the latest addition to the Wide Life family, the Babies. A little owl (whom we have named Spooky), an elephant (Toto), a cat (Yumyum), a monkey (Coco), a rabbit (Bitsy) and a bird (Itsy). Ludvig Löfgren, the master of young and modern glass, is hereby responsible for the cutest addition to Kosta Boda’s collection since 1742.
Basket
Design by Anna Ehrner
This bowl is somewhat reminiscent of a Jackson Pollock painting, one splash with the paint brush and full of color. The bowls come in white, black, pink, green, turquoise and yellow. The color makes a vibrant impression while still keeping the clearly defined glass surface beautifully visible.
Make up
Design by Åsa Jungnelius
Åsa Jungnelius adds to her collection of female attributes and leaves each one of us pondering on if a lipstick is just a lipstick or much more. The color of the fall is raspberry red and bimbo purple.
Brains
Design by Bertil Vallien
The hand painted glass heads are famous by now. It is even said the Pope may have one. The series is now complemented by Janus, in black and blue, and Tristan and Isolde in orange. These brains are blessed or cursed, however you choose to see it, with two heads - one gazing into the future and one into the past.
My Wide Life
Design by Ludvig Löfgren
The Wide Life series is also growing in numbers by two large Bamboo vases, two puzzled owls, a timid mouse, a white gorilla (available from Nov) and two quirky rabbits. This series questions the quintessence of boundaries and just how different perceptions can be.
Cabana
Design by Ludvig Löfgren
This fall just became more exotic with the addition of eight new pieces in the Cabana series. Glass bars in different colors are melted in intriguing patterns and blown into four new bowls and four vases.
Contrast
Design by Anna Ehrner
Among other things, Anna is the designer of the popular stemware series Line. Contrast, a variation of bowls, plates and vases, is another of the most beloved series. The colored vails and bars inside the glass have become almost a signature for Anna. The series is now complemented by a large vase which comes in six colors, white, black, blue, light green, orange and lime.
Brick
Design by Anna Ehrner
The votive Brick has the graphic weight of a brick. But at a closer look, the floating veils embodied in the glass make it look light as a feather. Votives in lime and orange are additions to this fall’s most contradictory series.
Tattoo
Design by Ludvig Löfgren
The popular Tattoo series is complemented by stemware. The generous glasses are hand painted in Småland with roses similar to those you can find on the vases and bowls. For anyone who likes tattoos. Or flowers.
