Planmeca Romexis® 6.0 Golden A’ Design Award winner

Planmeca Romexis® 6.0 software has been granted the Golden A' Design Award in Interface and Interaction Design Category by the International Design Academy.

A' Design Award and Competition is the worlds' largest design competition awarding best designs, design concepts as well as products and services – both concept stage and realised works. It is open to entries of products and projects including experience designs, human interface guidelines, interaction designs, graphical user interfaces and user interfaces for machines and software.

In this year’s competition, the recently released version of the world-leading dental imaging software, Planmeca Romexis® 6.0 received the highest award in the Interface and Interaction Design Category, the Golden A’ Design Award.

Through a complete user interface redesign, the objective for Romexis 6 was to make a technically complex product more intuitive and able to adapt to different specialist workflows as well as individual preferences. The unique strength of Romexis is that it allows capturing, viewing and processing all types of imaging data (including X-rays, 3D images, photos and videos) in one and the same system. In Romexis 6, this idea has been taken even further with a fresh user interface which puts the user in charge. The customisable look and range of available tools are designed to make workflows efficient and clutter-free and to allow treatment professionals to be confident in their work.

“We are honoured to receive such a great recognition of our hard work. One key innovation of Romexis 6 is its ability to accommodate both new and advanced users. While experienced users can personalise their workflows as they prefer, less experienced ones can take advantage of the all-new Workflow Wizards. These on-screen interactive guides offer help with quick videos and helpful texts”, explains Antti Eloheimo, Planmeca’s Lead UX/UI Designer.

The grand jury panel of the A’ Design Award and Competition consists of established designers, leading academics, prominent entrepreneurs and influential press members worldwide. The awarding criteria include ease of use, interactivity and interaction content, ease of learning, as well as the functionality and emotional aspects of the interface. In addition, the submitted designs are considered for their degree of innovation, aesthetic qualities, choices of medium and usefulness. The most weight is given to the human interaction aspect.
