Cloud pioneer Projectplace continues to grow

2013 marks a strong year for Projectplace, Europe’s leading provider of cloud-based project collaboration tools. The number of businesses worldwide collaborating via Projectplace grew steadily, leading to a 12 percent increase in the user base and taking the company closer to the milestone of connecting one million collaborators 2014.

Projectplace’s international expansion continued in 2013 with customers such as Whirlpool UK, University of Wales, ProSiebenSat1 Media, NRK, Norway Post, The Swedish Energy Agency and The Royal Institute of Technology joining the Swedish cloud-based project collaboration platform to boost the productivity of their workforces.

The number of users topped 900 000 in 2013, up 12 percent from 2012. Over 140 000 projects are today managed on Projectplace, an increase of 16 percent from the previous year.

”It’s incredible that it’s been 15 years since we pioneered software-as-a-service and cloud-based collaboration. As companies embrace more social ways of working and employees crave the flexibility of cloud-based services, we are seeing more and more businesses discover the advantages of online collaboration via Projectplace. By offering a combination of project management, social and mobile functionality in a single tool, we’re well positioned to capitalise on the growth opportunities in this market and look very much forward to 2014,” said Johan Zetterström, CEO of Projectplace.

In 2013, Projectplace established operations in the UK and made reinvestments with local branches in Germany and Denmark.

”We’re continuing our expansion to meet demand from businesses across Europe by establishing a strong organisation internationally and enabling more project managers and collaborators to experience the possibilities of our unique platform”, said Johan Zetterström.

Social collaboration is on the corporate agenda and the rate of new technology adoption is on the rise according to a recent study from consultancy firm Avanade: “There is significant opportunity in this emerging market […] more businesses plan to adopt social tools for enterprise collaboration in the next 12 months.” (May, 2013)

The market for cloud services is expected to grow 17.7 percent annually the coming years according to a recent study from TechNavio.
