Projectplace launches ToDo – a free enterprise-ready collaboration tool

ToDo brings cloud-based collaboration with scalability and enterprise-grade security to organisations and work teams of all sizes, for free. The new platform is underpinned by Projectplace’s 16 years’ experience of powering collaboration in some of the world’s biggest companies. ToDo’s Kanban boards offer full insight into who is doing what and when, and enables seamless team communication without the headaches of email and document version control.

Projectplace is today launching ToDo, a free version of its powerful cloud-based collaboration tool. ToDo brings the Kanban boards from Projectplace to everyone’s fingertips, enabling easy-to-use workflow planning and collaboration in organisations and agile teams of all sizes across sectors such as marketing, software development, non-profit and research and education. ToDo enables people to work together more effectively, track everyone’s actions and to share documents and insights seamlessly to ensure that projects stay on track.

“In today’s always-connected world, armed with smartphones, tablets, social networks and the cloud, we have the potential to be more creative, collaborative and productive than ever before,” says Johan Zetterström, Projectplace CEO. “ToDo is designed to turn this potential into reality by empowering people to become brilliant collaborators and project managers. With ToDo, our aim is to pave the way for more successful projects and team collaboration worldwide through knowledge sharing, transparency and communication, like we’ve done with the Projectplace platform for the past 16 years.”

What makes ToDo different from other free cloud-based collaboration platforms is that it is suitable for both SMEs and larger enterprises, because it is built on the rock-solid foundation of Projectplace’s 16 years’ experience of enabling secure, seamless and scalable collaboration in some of the world’s biggest and best known organisations, including Carlsberg, Sony, Vodafone, BP and AEG. Founded in 1998 as the world’s first Software-as-a-Service company, Projectplace today has close to 1 million users, collaborating on 140,000 projects globally.

"We've tried a huge number of online collaboration platforms but ToDo is the only one that ticks all the boxes for us,” says Erik Eggum, CEO of Fanbooster, one of the organisations involved in the beta test. “Being a distributed online company, tasks are given and received ad hoc, which can become quite messy and difficult to manage. With ToDo, it is easy to get a clear overview of each project and keep track of all tasks.”

Jim Benson, author of “Personal Kanban” comments:

"ToDo is elegant, simple to use, and no-nonsense. People can get into it, get their work organized, and complete with no training or fuss. I like it a lot.”

ToDo is powered by Kanban boards that offer a highly visual experience in planning, execution and follow-up of project deliverables. Each Kanban board represents a project or workflow that features cards consisting of individual actions (see attached screen grab). You can drag and drop these cards among the workflow columns as the project progresses. This provides everyone with full insight into who is doing what and when, encouraging engagement and sharing. Furthermore, by tapping into ToDo’s messaging and social features, collaborators able to interact regarding individual actions or the project as a whole without having to trawl through hundreds of emails.

A key strength of ToDo over existing tools is that organisations are able to grow with it. A Pro edition is aimed at more demanding collaborators. The Plus version allows you to add modules such as Gantt charts, which makes ToDo a truly unique Kanban tool. If your needs change even further, you are able to upgrade seamlessly to the premium Projectplace platform – the only collaboration and project management tool available in the market that combines powerful project office management functionality and day-to-day Kanban board workflows in one integrated tool, for superior management overview.

ToDo is equipped with comprehensive document sharing functionality, which enables teams to store, share and review all your files easily and securely. Integration with Dropbox and Google Drive eliminates version control issues and helps you to collaborate on documents even more seamlessly, based on the user provider of choice.

The ToDo experience is fully mobile. You are able to access your boards on your mobile device, as easily as from your computer, in your browser or by downloading the Projectplace app from the App Store.

ToDo also features an open API that enables easy integration with hundreds of third party services, e.g. sending mails directly to a ToDo board, making a dashboard for social media monitoring, or sending tweets automatically when a task is finished.
