Spaceport Sweden winner of the Innovator of the Year Award at the Grand Travel Awards 2014

Spaceport Sweden won the Innovator of the Year Award at the Grand Travel Awards, the Oscars of the travel industry, which took place at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden on Thursday evening. The Travel Awards is organised by Travel News, the leading trade magazine, and was held for the 22nd year in a row, seeing some 600 guests attending the ceremony last night.

The motivation by the jury:

Spaceport Sweden is together with the tourism industry positioning Kiruna as a world-leading destination for space tourism. A complete space destination is being developed with adventures both on the ground and in the air with unique high quality tourism products. Exclusive northern light flights in the winter have been followed the offering of zero-g flights where Spaceport Sweden has become a reseller.

Other nominees in the category Innovator of the Year were Gothia Towers / Upper House and Viking Grace .

Previously, Spaceport Sweden praised for its pioneering and innovative work and has won the Innovation of the Year at the TRIP AWARDS 2012 and also Innovation of the Year at the Swedish Lapland Academy 2012, for the launch of the Northern Light Flights.
