American University Boosts Recruitment with Swedish Competition Firm

October 22, 2014

Three weeks into The New School and Public Engagement Competitions, students across the globe are engaged in a tough competition for scholarships to attend the prestigious The New School in New York City. So far over 1,200 high school students have signed up for the competitions. With nearly 6 months until the close of the Public Engagement Competition, the final results are slated to surpass the numbers from the previous versions of the competition.

This is the third time The New School Competition is running and the second time for the Public Engagement Competition. Not only do these competitions provide students across the globe with financial access to a progressive and world-renowned institution, they also provide the institution a unique recruitment opportunity to reach out to global talent. According to Senior Director of Undergraduate Enrollment, Heather Fomin:

The New School's vision is to 'be the preeminent intellectual and creative center for effective engagement in a world that increasingly demands better-designed objects, communication, systems and organizations to meet social needs'. Offering the next generation's scholars and change-makers the opportunity to participate in a contest that can potentially alleviate financial barriers to pursuing their educational paths is a tremendous opportunity for both The New School and its potential students. This contest allows students to showcase their creative potential beyond the constraints of a traditional admission application and engage the audience through a medium that communicates that potential directly. The Sqore contest helps applicants translate the University's vision and allows The New School to identify its most promising future students.
