Press release -

Global innovation contest for future solar energy solutions

October 27, 2014

Stockholm, Sweden - Stockholm Royal Seaport is one of Europe’s largest urban development projects and is a leader when it comes to next generation sustainable neighborhoods. As part of Stockholm Royal Seaport’s sustainability focus the competition is organized to find long-term solar energy solutions that can be implemented into urban environments.

In the competition participants from all over the world can share their ideas on how solar energy can be innovatively integrated into Stockholm Royal Seaport. The solution should provide energy for functions within the city but also be a trademark of Stockholm Royal Seaport. The jury, consisting of experts within the area, will judge the entries on a variety of criteria, such as feasibility, visual appeal, cost-efficiency, innovativeness and longevity.

- We want to use the competition to challenge participants to think creatively and to take advantage of the urban environment in order to clarify one of the city’s major challenges, reducing resource consumption and climate impact, as well as visualizing it in an educational and aesthetic way, says Christina Salmhofer, Sustainability Manager for the City of Stockholm.

The winner of the competition will be awarded with 50 000 Swedish kronor and the possibility to see their idea become reality in Stockholm Royal Seaport.

Participants can enter the competition until January 21, 2015.
