The New School uses new round of competitions to find top global recruits

October 7, 2014

Stockholm, Sweden - The New School is once again partnering with Sqore in launching two competitions to attract talented American and global scholars, artists and pacesetters to join its already diverse and exceptional student body. High school students across the globe are able to participate in The New School Competition; and community college students and adults looking to resume their undergraduate education can join the Public Engagement Competition.

As an institution founded on progression and innovation, The New School continues this tradition by employing competitions as a new strategy for expanding its brand and locating potential global recruits. In the roughly four-month period the competitions will run, applicants will be able to learn more about the nearly hundred-year old institution and its focus on collaboration and project-based learning, which has attracted such notable figures as Woody Allen, Jack Kerouac and Eleanor Roosevelt, and test their skills and suitability for the university and their chosen undergraduate division.

Unlike The New School Competition, the Public Engagement Competition’s target demographic is adults looking to return to studies, who want the thrill and excitement of doing so at one of the most prestigious universities in the heart of the global capital--New York City. Students of the Public Engagement division of The New School can select among a variety of undergraduate programs within the Bachelor’s Program for Adults and Transfer Students, such as Food Studies, Global Studies and Liberal Arts.

The New School Competition has had a dramatic increase in participation between the first and second iteration, as global applicants become more aware of the competition and anticipate its relaunch. The number of students that signed up for competition increased by over 50% between the first edition that ran from 2012-2013 and last year’s. This year’s competition is sure to see similar increases and results as students vie for their place at The New School and hope to make their way to New York City in fall 2015.
