Bank of China kicks off operations in Stockholm

Aug 02, 2012 06:00 CEST

China’s oldest bank, celebrating 100 years anniversary 2012, has opened its first Scandinavian office in Stockholm. The establishment is a key investment and will be the natural link for future Swedish-Chinese business.

“Bank of China is expanding world-wide and when it was decided to establish an office in the Nordic countries Stockholm was the natural choice. Stockholm has the largest economy and we definitely see an increasing business between China and Sweden”, says Sissi Wang, Assistant General Manager.

The Bank of China Stockholm Office will start with eight employees and expects to be fifteen persons based on how the business develops. The staff is a mix of Chinese expats, local Chinese and Swedes. The bank provides saving and loan services, remittance, foreign exchange trading, trade finance and letter of guarantee services to both corporate and private clients. Bank of China actually has offices in 38 countries world-wide.

“We will cover our business in the other Nordic countries from Stockholm”, continues Sissi Wang.

The official opening ceremony will be held tonight in the City Hall in Stockholm in presence of officials from the City of Stockholm.
