Nordbygg 2018 was a success – now we look ahead to 2020!

With 48,000 visitors, 930 high-quality exhibitors and 250 well-visited seminars, Nordbygg 2018 was a success with both the public and the exhibitors. The arrangers are now looking forward to 2020 with confidence, in particular because more than 50 percent of the exhibitor space has already been booked.

This year’s Nordbygg was the best ever! This was the message from the visitor survey, in which visitors rated this year’s fair 4.4 out of a possible 5 – the highest rating ever. The ambition to develop Nordbygg has proven to be a success. This is confirmed by one-third of the visitors, who consider the fair to have improved in recent years.

“It naturally feels really great that our efforts have been appreciated. And there were more visitors this year than in 2016. We are particularly pleased that we are the industry leader when it comes to the number of female visitors. The fact that half of the exhibition space for 2020 is already booked, as well is proof that even the exhibitors are satisfied,” says Peter Söderberg, Event Manager for Nordbygg.

Size and breadth set the fair apart

Peter Söderberg believes that there are several reasons behind the strong results.
One is that the fair is well structured and thus manageable, its' size, the breadth among the exhibitors, the number of interesting events and the large number of new products and services are also important. The exhibitors appreciated the international interest, which was record-strong this year, as was the number of visitors with a decision-making mandate.

A relevant seminar program filled the chairs quickly. One of the most popular discussed the fire at Grenfell Tower in London and also had a strong effect on the audience.

“The important message was that we must be better at working together to promote fire safety and knowledge about materials from a fire safety perspective, and we must have a better control system in Sweden,” summarizes Anneli Kouthoofd, CEO of Byggmaterialindustrierna, an umbrella organization for the building materials industry, and moderator at the lecture.

New technology here to stay

The fact that this year’s Nordbygg was also filled with digital perspectives, both in the seminar program and on the exhibition floor, was also appreciated. This was manifested by Nordic Contech’s decision to launch its meeting place for digital innovations in the construction industry at the fair.

“New technology is now establishing itself in the building sector. This will be even more evident at Nordbygg 2020,” says Peter Söderberg.
