Stockholm Design Week attracts visitors from all over the world

Architects, designers and journalists from all over the world will be coming to Stockholm to attend Stockholm Design Week and Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 3-9. With the fair being the hub Stockholm will be buzzing with almost 200 design events, exhibitions and parties.
“Stockholm Design Week is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who loves design, whether members of the industry or the public, to experience unique design events across Stockholm and, of course, at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair,” says Chicie Lindgren, Unit Manager, Stockholm Design Events.

The following are some of this year’s highlights at Stockholm Design Week:

Stockholms Auktionsverk, Nybrogatan 32
3-8 February, Nybrogatan 32
Swedish architect and designer Mattias Stenberg approaches design from a holistic perspective, relating architectural environments to the human form and making mass-produced objects feel tactile and handcrafted. This exhibition and auction celebrates the broad range of Stenberg's designs and will showcase over 120 pieces produced exclusively for this exhibition by more than 20 participating brands. auktionsverket.com

Alexander Lervik – Imaginations x12
4-9 February, Sven-Harrys konstmuseum, Eastmansvägen 10
Is a chair a sculpture or a design object? At a time when cultural disciplines are increasingly merging, designer Alexander Lervik explores the line between art and design. After immersing himself in different art movements and genres, he has created an exhibition called Imaginations which consists of 12 different pieces of furniture that reflect man’s capacity for creativity and the human condition. https://www.sven-harrys.se/en/

MISSCHIEFS
3-7 February, Stureplan 6
MISSCHIEFS is a groundbreaking feminist nomadic exhibition of contemporary collectible design showcasing a unique group of ten trailblazing Swedish women designers and one invited guest selected for the punk nature of their work at the crossing of design, craft, and art. https://misschiefs.se/

Design Diplomacy
5 February 6 pm, Italian Culture Institute, Gärdesgatan 14
5 February 2 pm, Embassy of Iceland, Kommendörsgatan 35
7 February 6 pm, Finish Embassy, Västra Trädgårdsgatan 13

The event is a collaboration between Stockholm Design Week and the Italian Cultural Institue. Design Diplomacy is a popular concept that was launched at Helsinki Design Week 2016 and has since then toured in cities such as Tokyo, Berlin, Madrid and New York. A deck of questions is used as a starting point for both easy and deeper discussions about design.
