The Nordic kitchen in the spotlight at Formex

At the Formex interior design and gifts exhibition on January 14-17, 2015, the Nordic kitchen will be in the spotlight at the exhibition's pop-up restaurant, which this time will be called Nordic Eat. In creating the area, the food has as much importance as the interior design.

The Formex pop–up restaurant is a combination of both an exhibition and a restaurant, and it is being designed for this spring's exhibition by designer Jan Rundgren. The guidelines are a "simplified Nordic" theme that draws on the Formex trend theme for the exhibition, Nordic Neat. The restaurant will contain four seating areas, the tables in each of which will be decorated with their own style and trends: chinaware, glass, textiles, cloth napkins and tablecloths.

“The cooking trend is very strong right now. Swedish chefs are experiencing a lot of success abroad and interest in food has become a popular past-time for many Swedes. This is reflected in design, which has now moved into the kitchen. It is evident that many stores are starting to think about design, and the number and selection of designer kitchen products have increased significantly. I want to combine a Nordic menu with good design and demonstrate this joy for the table and the kitchen,” says Jan Rundgren.

Chef Thomas Andreasson at Mässrestauranger is creating the menu, which will have a clear influence from the Nordic kitchen and Swedish nature. At Nordic Eat, visitors will be able to select dishes from the sea, forest, farm and mountains. All menu items are primarily based on organic ingredients. This spring's pop-up restaurant will also have a coffee bar.

“It is unbelievably inspiring to work with Mässrestauranger, which is the same firm that is responsible for the Nobel Dinner at City Hall,” says Jan Rundgren.

Formex will take place on January 14-17, 2015, at Stockholmsmässan.
