This spring’s Formex defies the recession

Formex continues to cement its position as the leading event in Nordic interior design. The spring fair attracted 864 exhibitors, 887 media representatives and 23,903 visitors from 48 countries. The Formex team had picked the theme “Fresh” to inspire and spread happiness after a period of darkness, and this was very well received by exhibitors and visitors alike.

“In spite of the current recession, many exhibitors chose to showcase new products at the spring fair, something that almost always pays off,” reports Chicie Lindgren, Event Manager of Formex.

The new Formex Trend Zone launched last autumn was a huge success and returned with four international trends. This time they were interpreted by the Swedish Fashion Council and visitors were able to get expert advice from trend, color and design experts while getting loads of inspiration ahead of the coming season.
“The trend forecasts at Formex are important for many people, both buyers and store owners, who visit the fair each season to find out about the trends and be inspired. That’s why we’re particularly keen to continuously develop the way the trends are presented,” explains Chicie Lindgren.

Formex continues to attract Nordic visitors and welcomed more visitors than ever before from Norway, Denmark and Iceland this year. A total of 23,903 people visited Formex, an increase of 2.2 percent compared to the previous fair in August 2012.

“We have to be pleased with this; on the whole, we’re showing a strong performance in a time of recession. The industry mobilized its creative and commercial forces, and that really paid off,” concludes Formex Event Manager Chicie Lindgren.

The next Formex will take place on 15-18 August 2013 at Stockholmsmässan.
