Copyright: The STRABAG subsidiary Ed. Züblin AG has received the turnkey construction contract for a residential complex in Berlin-Schöneberg. The client of the Stadtquartier Südkreuz project at Tempelhofer Weg in the Schöneberger Linse urban development area is Rondus Erste Immobilienbesitz GmbH & Co. KG, represented by Hines Immobilien GmbH. For a contract value of approximately € 80 million, ZÜBLIN Business Unit Berlin will build 11 turnkey residential buildings with a total of 665 apartment units, an underground car park and approximately 14,600 m² of outdoor facilities.

Of the 665 tenant apartments in the six-to-seven-storey buildings with 58,800 m² of gross floor area, 106 are being built as subsidised, affordable apartments. Haus F will feature 213 micro-apartments for students as well as common areas on the ground floor and basement level. A day care centre will be included in Haus A. The ZÜBLIN-led building construction works are scheduled to start in late January 2019 with the handover of the building excavation and will last approximately 21 months.

Schöneberger Linse, the area between Südkreuz station and Schöneberg station, is currently being developed as an urban mixed-use development. The contract for the construction of an office and commercial building (Contract Section 3, Haus J) at Stadtquartier Südkreuz had already been awarded to ZÜBLIN by Rondus in the summer of 2018.

Thomas Birtel, CEO of STRABAG SE, is pleased with the good order situation in the greater Berlin area, where ZÜBLIN is already realising projects like the Axel Springer building, Allianz Campus, Wohnquartier Lindenhof or Brain Box Berlin: “This latest large contract helps us to cement our position as the leading construction company in the German capital as well as our market leadership in the construction sector in Germany.”
