ZÜBLIN-Kulturpreis 2018 to be awarded in the genre of dance

  • 2018 competition is aimed at young dancers in the categories of Young Pros and Ambitious Amateurs
  • The closing date for applications is 10 April 2018
  • The prize winners will perform for the public on 21 July 2018

For almost 30 years, Ed. Züblin AG has organised the “Sommer im ZÜBLIN-Haus” at its headquarters in Stuttgart. With this annual cultural series, the construction company promotes talented young performers from Baden-Württemberg from a variety of genres. In 2017, ZÜBLIN expanded its commitment to culture with the ZÜBLIN-Kulturpreis, also aimed at young talents from Baden-Württemberg. The award is presented in a different genre every year. In 2018, entries are being accepted for performers from the world of dance. All dancers, from soloists to dance ensembles, may register to compete in the two categories Young Pros (age: 15-25) and Ambitious Amateurs (age: 15-35).

The contest is open to all styles: from ballet, contemporary dance and tango to modern and jazz dance to hip-hop and breakdance, everything is possible. The aim is to excite the audiences at ZÜBLIN-Haus with the full diversity of dance.

Partner is TanzSzene Baden-Württemberg e. V. The prize patron is the Stuttgart-based Canadian dancer and choreographer Eric Gauthier.

Decisive criteria in the selection of candidates are quality, choreography and unique characteristics.

Before the final prize award, a seven-member jury consisting of ZÜBLIN representatives and dance professionals will select three soloists or dance ensembles for each category to be invited to the public dance performance of the winners on 21 July 2018 in the ZÜBLIN-Haus. What will count then is a convincing and entertaining live performance. The ranking will be determined by an audience vote. The winners will share total prize money of € 9,000.

Entries are possible until 10 April 2018. Entry documents can be requested by sending an e-mail to zueblinkulturpreis@puepcke.de. The documents are also available for download from www.zueblin-haus.de.
