Press release -

The UK’s Only Real Time Pothole Reporting System

A tried and tested way for UK residents and motorists to report potholes and to engage local authorities via a cloud based software system www.streetrepairs.co.uk in real time.

Street Repairs was launched in January 2014, there developers understood that a centralised independent street fault reporting system was needed for the UK. What they didn’t predict was its rapid rise in popularity after it launched National Pothole Day and winning two awards from Auto express and The Sun.

With no marketing budget Street Repairs was launched on Facebook and Twitter, and in less than a year has attracted over 100,000 followers which is testament to the strong public backing this powerful but easy to use reporting system provides.

The Street Repairs IOS and Android mobile phone application is designed to assist both residents and local authorities to quickly identify community issues such as potholes, street lighting faults, pavement issues, and much more in real time. www.streetrepairs.co.uk/app

Street Repairs mobile phone application links directly with our online system which enables members of the public to report street-level problems as and when they see them. Pot holes, graffiti, lose kerb stones, and more can all be reported free of charge. Users simply take a photograph of the problem, and upload the image to the Street Repairs site, along with a short description. The exact location is identified by GPS satellite. Contact details for the appropriate council or authority are not required as Street Repairs takes reports made to their site and ensures they are brought to the attention of the appropriate people.

The developer of the system Colin Mahoney said “This revolutionary superfast reporting system empowers residents to work with their local authorities to improve the safety and condition of their local streets and neighbourhoods. By making fault-reporting quick and easy, Street Repairs helps local authorities better plan their repair and maintenance programmes.

Real-time reports on the number of outstanding faults and time taken to complete repairs are also available to the public. This information can be used by residents' associations and interest groups to monitor the state of their local roads”.

Mr Mahoney continued to say “To date we have not charged for any our services but in order to remain competitive we must maintain a strong brand, and this brand is primarily predicated on presentation of informational assets. Funding, sponsorship or investment is now required to assist in further implementation of R&D” http://streetrepairs.co.uk/become-a-sponsor

We are delighted the RAC and Money Supermarket have recognised the crucial role Street Repairs can play in keeping Britain's road network in a safe, well-maintained condition. We continue to encourage their members to submit reports of any street-level faults they notice, so we can make the relevant authorities aware.

The RAC and Money supermarket have been testing the Street Repairs systems (API). This is a crucial step towards raising public awareness of the importance of reporting faults, and making it easy to do so. By providing greater visibility to both the public and local authorities, about the volume and type of issues affecting their neighbourhoods, Street Repairs will play a vital role in improving the safety and condition of the nation's roads boosting the number of reports submitted to the system from across Britain.

You can help keep your neighbourhood safe, clean and inviting, by reporting any maintenance problems you notice to your local council. In the past it has been difficult and time consuming to make a report, with residents needing to track down the correct department, follow the right procedure or even identifying the correct location of the defect. Trying to follow a reported fault can also be tedious, with Street Repairs it’s easy to follow your report as we keep you updated with regular text messages and emails. Our systems will identify your location, find the right council and keep you posted on progress.

Street Repairs makes the whole process much easier, by providing one website through which residents can submit any problem, to any local council anywhere, any time. Smartphone technology has allowed residents to report problems in real time. You can attach photographs and give a detailed description whilst out and about. Basically we have handed street fault reporting power over to you the public.

Once the problem is reported, our work is only just beginning. We try to work with councils to help them prioritise the works that need carrying out which assists in managing their maintenance budgets. We also encourage and closely monitor their progress and follow up on all cases submitted via the Street Repairs. Progress updates from the council are regularly requested to ensure a satisfactory outcome for local residents and the council.

Street Repairs is committed to making it as easy as possible for local people to report local problems to their local council. We then try to work with the council to get these issues resolved, while keeping the original informant up-to-date with the progress being made.
