Victorian Gypsies – Swedish Hasbeens AW13 collection
Swedish Hasbeens lifts the lid on the Victorian era and releases a collection that moves away from today’s comfort and functionality to embrace romanticism and mysticism. Meet the Victorian Gypsies!
The Victorian fashion emerged during the reign of Queen Victoria. When fashion was full of meaning, vibrant colors and high quality. With inspiration from this era combined with the Gypsy fashion of the late 19th century the new collection dares to challenge. To combine the colors, material, layers and patterns that made the Victorian fashion stand out and let it stand tall once again.
- This era was all about romance and mystic head designer Emy Blixt explains. The fashion scene was smart and well dressed yet at the same time provoking and sensual. Fashion has never been as understated yet emotionally loaded since Victorian times, which created one of the most interesting paradoxes in fashion.
The merge of the Victorian romanticism and the Gypsies vibrancy have made Emy Blixt redesign the classic wooden sole this season.
- This season we are releasing a new wooden sole inspired by the dramatic Victorian era. The time has come to move away from rigid and minimalistic fashion by designing a more soft curvy shape on the wooden heel. This creates a very feminine yet stylish heel with associations from a romantic era combined with a contemporary design, says Emy Blixt.
The colors of this collection are like walking through a piece of British history. Velvet black leather, old gold and antique silver set the stage as well as the more popping colors gypsy green, singoalla red and bordeaux.
This season you meet the 1900’s stylish Gypsy Boot and Lace up Boot, which comes in vintage-cognac nubuck leather. The romantic Button Boots with gold colored details is one of the collections key pieces as well as the Victorian Chelsea Boot, which comes in velvet-black and dark bordeaux. The new styles are, as all our shoes, made by hand using traditional production methods in old shoe factories from vegetable-tanned natural grain leather.

Swedish Hasbeens was founded in 2007 by childhood peers Cilla Wingård Neuman and Emy Blixt. The story of Swedish Hasbeens started in 2006 when when Emy came across 300 pairs of clogs from the 70's, and realized that the world was ready for their return. The clogs have matured and today Swedish Hasbeens offer a wide variety of shoe styles in over 20 countries worldwide.
The Hasbeens clogs, bags and belts are still handmade with natural grain leather in the old traditional way in the small factories that have made shoes for decades. Our production methods and material are kind to nature and people. Happy clogs make happy people.
