200 international Absolut fans gathered in the hometown of Absolut in Åhus, Sweden
For the second year in a row Absolut fans from all over the world met in Sweden to share their knowledge and to experience the Absolut brand in its country of birth. This time in Åhus, in south of Sweden from where Absolut Vodka originates.
200 Absolut Collectors met last week in the Swedish small town of Åhus. They are truly passionate about their brand and have followed Absolut for decades and collect all items related to Absolut such as bottles, ads and merchandise since the start in 1979. During the three-day visit, 27-29th of August, the participants shared knowledge, stories and news about Absolut.
“To have such devoted fans make us very proud. In some aspects they have a more comprehensive knowledge about the brand than we do. It is nice to see that a premium brand such as Absolut, that is synonymous with creativity, can evolve true passionate feelings,” says Krister Asplund, VP Operations at the Absolut Company.
Absolut welcomed the
Collectors at their yearly meeting and offered them to see the Absolut brand’s
own concept: One Source. One source is the unifying
philosophy behind the production process and means that all the winter wheat is
grown and harvested in the fields of southern Sweden,
all water is taken from their own well and all vodka is produced in the same place. The
tight schedule included among other things a visit at the Absolut Vodka
distillery in Nöbbelöv and Råbelöf Estate, where the winter wheat of Absolut
Elyx is grown.
The initiator of these Collector meetings is always a devoted Collector. This year’s initiator is Leon Lai from Singapore. The Absolut Collectors meet every year and they have previously held meetings in Sweden, Germany, the UK and Singapore.
There are nearly 2.000 Absolut Collectors over the globe. The typical Absolut Collector is a man between the ages of 40-50 from USA, Sweden, Germany or Mexico. The Collectors communicate through many different social media forums, such as Facebook, where they share brand news and other Absolut-related stories.
