​Three exciting events featuring the relationship between Absolut and art

The year was 1986 and Andy Warhol had just depicted what was to become one of the most renowned ad campaigns of all time. At that time, few of us knew that this was the start of something special – the relationship between Absolut Vodka and the art community.

Since then Absolut has collaborated with hundreds of artists, photographers, musicians, designers and other visionaries and the result of their talent has been an important part in advertising the Swedish vodka from the small town of Åhus.

Most of these unique pieces, collectively known as the Absolut Art Collection, can be found at the Museum of spirits on Djurgården in Stockholm. In the coming days the Museum of spirits will feature a brand new exhibit by Keith Haring. Keith Haring was introduced to Absolut by the aforementioned Mr. Warhol when both of them were a part of a young and ambitious generation of underground artists working out of New York.

Absolut has, since 2009, continued to support contemporary art by maintaining partnerships and collaborating with several well-known institutions, prestigious art events and exhibitions including Documenta (13), Art Basel and the Palais de Tokyo. Absolut has also collaborated with several established artists such as Mickalene Thomas, Adrian Wong, Yazan Khalili and Ilja Karilampi who helped create numerous Art Bar installations all over the world – an artistic experience for the senses.

Another important part of our support and relationship with the art community is the Absolut Art Award, instituted in 2009 – an award that gives artists and authors the opportunity to breathe life into their dream projects. The Absolut Art Award ceremony will take place between 24th and 26th of September in Stockholm, Sweden. During the ceremony, Frances Stark will be awarded with the prize for “Art Work” and Mark Godfrey will be awarded with the prize for “Art Writing”.

As if that were not enough – soon everyone will be able to visit the Absolut Art Exhibition, composed by Jonas Kleerup, at the Clarion Hotel Skanstull in Stockholm. Absolut Art is a company founded by Absolut Vodka with the purpose to make art accessible and affordable to everyone.
