Altibox Chill- powered by Xstream

The Norwegian fibre-to-the-home provider Altibox, has launched their new video on demand (VOD) and live TV service. The service is called “Chill”, and will be available on all platforms in Norway.  In October, the product will launch on PC and Mac, followed by launch on tablets and smartphones. Among Altibox Chill’s features is the possible to commence viewing on the TV and later move to another device. Altibox Chill is also allowing clients to see TV or rent a movie anywhere in Norway, and not only within the confinements of their home.

Altibox use MediaMaker for media assets management, purchases and payment of movies. For streaming, Altibox use Silverlight smooth streaming, a adaptive streaming technology that evaluates the bandwidth and the receiving computer’s performance every two seconds and then scales the image quality for it - without interrupting the stream. Assuring their viewers that there will be no interruptions on the line when they watch their movie.
