Norton Clipper’s plant in Luxembourg celebrates its 50th anniversary

Norton Clipper’s manufacturing plant in Bascharage, Luxembourg, celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. A ceremony was held on November 15th, 2013 in presence of Nicolas Schmit, Minister of Labour, Employment and Immigration of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Thomas Petuaud-Letang, CEO of Saint-Gobain Abrasives for Europe, Middle East and Africa, customers and local authorities.

With over 50 years of presence and experience in the construction markets, the Saint-Gobain Abrasives factory in Bascharage is the main European site for the production of Norton diamond blades for the cutting and preparation of building materials and designs Clipper light construction equipment. Industrial facilities include the central Research & Development centre of Saint-Gobain Abrasives Diamond tools, which essential contribution ensures the launch many innovative products and the development of new patented manufacturing processes.

Since December 2009, the premises also include the European “Habitat Centre of Excellence”. Promoting Saint-Gobain Abrasives as a supplier of solutions for craftsmen, the facility includes a 240 m² show room, an outdoor test area, training rooms and a sample building site showing the different applications of Saint-Gobain Abrasives products. An interactive screen displays the full solutions of Saint-Gobain Abrasives.

"This anniversary in our most advanced facility illustrates the ability of Saint-Gobain Abrasives to be always at the forefront of technological innovations in the industrial and new products," says Rodolphe Martin, General Manager of the Construction Products Division for Europe, Middle East and Africa. "Our strategic position in Luxembourg allows us to provide our customers with timely delivery and very reactive after-sales service, quick and effective response to distributors and end-users demands," adds Silham El Kasmi, Plant Manager at Saint-Gobain Abrasives in Bascharage.

The premises in Bascharage are certified to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 environment, health & safety management standards, and employs a staff of 95.
