Axel Johnson International acquires Spanish steel wire rope and lifting equipment distributor Cables y Eslingas
With the acquisition of Cables y Eslingas, Axel Johnson International strengthens the market market position for its lifting, anchoring and cargo securing business and gains an important foothold in the Spanish market. An asset purchase agreement of the rights to the Cables y Eslingas brand and all interests in the distribution of lifting and steel wire ropes was signed April 29.
Cables y Eslingas will be part of Axel Johnson International’s business group AxLoad, specialists in steel wire ropes, lifting and cargo securing solutions for industry. Over the last decade, strong organic growth has been combined with a number of strategic acquisitions throughout Europe and today the AxLoad business group has annual sales of 350 MEUR and operations in 15 countries.
Founded in 1969, Cables y Eslingas is one of Spain’s largest providers of steel wire ropes, lifting slings and lifting accessories for heavy industry, building and construction, transportation, fishing and energy. The company has eight strategically located sales and distribution branches throughout the country (including in the Canary Islands) and a joint logistics centre at its headquarter in Barcelona. The Cables y Eslingas team is respected for its extensive product, application and safety know-how, efficient logistics and longstanding customer relations. Annual sales amounts to 20 MEUR and the number of employees is approximately 100.
General manager Viçens Lozano and his team will continue leading the operations going forward: “Over the years, we have built an efficient distribution business providing our industrial customers with lifting products, services and safety know-how to help improve their operations. This new context will allow us to continue developing the product and service offering to our home market while ensuring the best possible conditions for our business”, says Mr Lozano.
