Sweden’s most innovative lighting technology company BrainLit, recently achieved 10 million SEK in the new share issue, welcoming investors from industries such as health, bank and finance, and automation. Amongst the key partners are Bert Nordberg, one of the first to invest, Soläng Invest’s GM, Anders Göransson, Johan Lenander, and Ludvig Linge, co-founder of TAT.
Tord Wingren, founder and chairman of the board, maintains that the diverse experience among the investors, and the industries they represent, is strategically important for the expansion of BrainLit:
“With the key ventures of 2016, the company has grown by 80% in terms of sales compared to 2015. Considering this, we feel that this new share issue creates the right conditions for us to progress even further during 2017”, says Tord Wingren.
“During 2016, we gained considerable attention in the educational system, especially after SVT’s coverage of BrainLit’s lighting system in operation at Lindeborgsskolan in Malmö. Here, it was proven to have had a significantly positive impact on pupil attention span during school hours, as well as during their nightly sleep. In 2017 we hope to be able to carry out important research around the benefits of our system in such environments as the office or industrial settings. This will enable us to provide our customers with concise material which will be useful in decision making.” says CEO, Peter K Andersson.
BrainLit’s dynamic self-learning system, with built-in feedback, is based on the latest research in lighting and illumination. The system is based on patented ideas developed by Tord Wingren and customises lighting conditions for individual and corporate use. A customised lighting system for individuals, or for specific activities, provides scientifically proven benefits for health, wellbeing and productivity in people and animals.
“Our everyday life will be revolutionised by the possibilities of customisable lighting.” says Klas Sjöberg, chief physician, researcher, and chairman of BrainLit’s scientific advisory board.
BrainLit’s products also address working environments for companies that operate around the clock. Lighting systems can significantly improve the conditions for employees who work in shifts and will help to regulate sleeping patterns. By decreasing the risk of sleep disorders, it is possible to prevent illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.
