Brännland Cider of Sweden launches US distribution with Skurnik Wines

Brännland Cider, the award winning Swedish cider producer, announced today the launching of US distribution with Skurnik Wines, one of the most respected wine and spirits companies in the world. This marks Brännland Cider's first foray into the highly competitive US cider market after establishing themselves as one of the worlds top cider producers with distribution in Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland and their home market of Scandinavia. The distribution agreement covers 3 states - New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, with the company actively looking to expand to additional states and Canada.

Andrew Mulligan, Skurnik Wines on the addition of Brännland Cider to the Skurnik portfolio,

- If you had told us a year ago that we’d someday be in the Swedish ice cider business, we’d all have had a good laugh at your expense. But when we heard that a refugee from the music business was making a fermented beverage in a place where others said it shouldn’t be done, ours ears perked up. We couldn’t be more excited to launch Andreas Sundgren’s ciders in the New York market. Brännland is bold, iconoclastic and, above all, delicious, and these qualities make it a perfect fit for the Skurnik portfolio.

Andreas Sundgren Graniti, founder Brännland Cider

- Being given the opportunity to enter the US market with a partner like Skurnik is a dream come true. The fact that Skurnik has decided to take on our ciders says something about us and about the development of cider as a premium beverage globally. Trail blazing producers like Clos Saragnat and Domaine Neige in Quebec, Eden Specialty Ciders in Vermont and Eric Bordelet in Normandie have opened the eyes of the industry to what cider can and should be. We follow that legacy while developing and accentuating a truly Swedish cider expression.

About Skurnik Wines

Skurnik Wines is an importer and distributor of fine wines and spirits now headquartered in the heart of New York City. We taste, select and offer for sale (to the trade only) a high quality, diversified portfolio of wines and spirits from around the world. The company began with just a handful of relatively unknown estates in 1987 and has since grown to represent over 500 estates. We are the exclusive representatives for these producers in our home markets of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and are the national importer for many wines as well.

The goal of Skurnik Wines is to search the globe and assemble the finest portfolio of estate-bottled wines and spirits available at all price points. Wines selected to be included in our portfolio must represent the highest quality with respect to character and winemaking. We are very proactive in seeking out QUALITY FIRST and will do everything in out power to insure that the wines we taste make it INTO THE BOTTLE. Over the past 25+ years, we have developed an excellent reputation and it is our goal to insure that if a wine says “Imported by Skurnik Wines” it is as close to a guarantee of quality as possible. To this day, Michael and Harmon taste every vintage of every wine that makes it into the portfolio – to insure that each is good enough to wear the Skurnik Wines name. Wines are shipped using refrigerated containers (reefers) and are stored in our warehouse at a constant 55 degrees Fahrenheit. This insures that the wines arrive at the customer’s door in optimal condition.
