Several famous Swedish profiles have committed to collect as much money as possible for this year's Musikhjälpen (Music Aid). Among them is the well-known duo Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson. With a starting price of 1 million they auctioned out themselves and the production of a commercial. The bidding was won after a tight battle by technology and casino company Casumo which now donates 3.4 million SEK to Musikhjälpen.
- For us, this is the beginning of Casumo’s quest to contribute to a better world. Right now there are more than 30 million children who cannot go to school because of war and conflicts. Musikhjälpen collects money to give these children a safer life, an initiative that we want to participate in and contribute to, says Markus Thunholm, Market Manager for Casumo in Sweden.
Casumo’s bid of 3.4 million SEK represents a new record compared to previous auctions where the record was 221,100 SEK. Musikhjälpen collected a total of 49,003,745 SEK this year, which is a new record compared to the previous collections which peaked at 31,105 000 SEK.
Musikhjälpen has since 2008 engaged the Swedish people and managed to gather millions of Swedish crowns for various projects and for vital purposes. This year's theme was "Children in war have the right to go to school." The well-known television profiles and entertainers Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson contributed by auctioning themselves in the form of a commercial to those who gave the highest bid. The starting price was for one million Swedish crowns and many companies took the opportunity to bid for a good cause. In the end, Casumo took home the bidding with a bid of 3.4 million.
