Pálava Wine Harvest 2013

Mikulov has kept the tradition of wine harvests for over two centuries. Now the ceremony is called Pálava Wine Harvest. The Mikulov wine harvest has inseparably been linked with one of the major historic events in history of Mikulov. In autumn 1403 the armoured squadron of the Mikulov castle liberated King Wenceslas IV from Vienna prison. That is the reason why are attractions such as historic procession with King Wenceslas IV, knight tournament or historic craft market parts of program. Early September is the best time to experience wine harvest in this beautiful South Moravian town. Wine harvest is full of Czech culture, traditions, live music and theatre performances. Three days of exuberant festivities with a rich programme await lovers of selected culinary delicacies and good beverages. In the area of ​​the Mikulov castle will be held an interesting tasting of the best wines from the Palava region. The specialty which should not to be missed is "Burcak", the fermented young wine available only for a few weeks around the wine harvest. It is alcoholic high-sugar and cloudy drink. Wine harvest is the beginning of the best period of the year for vintners – grape picking, pressing, young wine – till November with the first wine tasting.

CIAF – XX. Czech International Air Fest 2013

Airshows have a big tradition in the Czech Republic. CIAF is the biggest airshow and competition of top military combat aircraft in the Czech Republic. Hosting town is traditionally beautiful East Bohemian town of Hradec Kralové. Hradec Králové airport will be at the beginning of September center of military air forces of many countries in the world and final destination to thousands of aviation fans from across the Europe. Airshow with 19 years of experience will present within two days dozens of jets and propeller aircraft and helicopters from various corners of the planet. Czech International Air Fest will celebrate 20th anniversary. Participation has been confirmed among others by air units from Denmark, France, Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Belgium, Portugal and Italy. Flying skills will demonstrate both military and civilian pilots.

Pilsner Fest 2013

Pilsner Fest is a festival which connects art and culture in the strict sense with beer drinking culture and gastronomy. This year's Pilsner Fest will be presented in a new form. Will take place on Saturday 5th of October - the exact day of the first brew of Pilsner Urquell beer in 1842. Celebrations will link historical tradition of brewing with modern trends and achievements of the lager in the world. Celebration of beer will last till Thursday 10th of October. Accompanying program is based on the rich history of Pilsner Urquell. It includes not only the birth of beer and a long brewing tradition, but also beer successes of modern times. In the area of brewery will be featured traditional brewery crafts that visitors can try, even in period costumes. Visitors can also visit a stand representing the present Pilsner Urquell brand. Here is the biggest attraction final of the international competition called Pilsner Urquell Master Bartender, which is gaining increasing prestige at home and abroad. In addition to the international final will Czech bartenders perform various styles of tapping beer and visitor will get chance to try these styles of tapping under their supervision. Pilsner Fest always has been and always will be festival full of great beer, entertainment and cultural activities. Music production will remain an important part of the Pilsner Fest.

Designblok 2013 – Days of Design in Prague

Designblok - Fashion and Design Week, is a prestige international show of contemporary furniture, industrial design, interior accessories, lights, fashion, and jewellery. Designblok celebrates fifteen-year anniversary this year. For fifteen years of its existence introduced hundreds of new products, collections and solitaires. The first week of October will offer exhibitions, contractual and marketing presentations, direct sales, encounters with professionals, media, trends, visions, plus a lab of the future. Designblok will also include Designblok Fashion Week with the participation of leading Czech fashion designers, plus prestigious Czech and foreign fashion brands. Topic of this year are icons. Icons in meaning of things which we still admire, to which we return, things which evoke memories and strong emotions. Designblok cooperates with young talents from schools of design and fashion. Selected students get chance to present their art and are promoted in a special way within the entire Designblok.
