Christina Björklund to become new CEO of the Göteborg Opera

Christina Björklund, previously MD and CEO of Hallpressen AB, to become new CEO of the Göteborg Opera.

Christina Björklund’s CV already included roles such as hotel manager and marketing manager when she was appointed managing director of Västgöta Tidningar, a subsidiary to Hallpressen, in 2010. Three years later she was managing director and CEO of Hallpressen AB and in charge of around 500 employees across 30 locations. Her most recent appointment was as VP and operations manager of the furniture design company Offecct.

Christina Björklund has been appointed by the board of the Göteborg Opera. What swung the decision in favour of Björklund was, among other things, her experience of leading complex organisations, regional knowledge and business acumen, plus the fact that she is a present, visible and highly committed manager with a passion for culture.

Björklund succeeds Ronnie Hallgren, who resigned on 30 June after three years in the role. Peter Hansson will serve as interim CEO until Christina Björklund takes up the position, whichwill be no later than 1 October.
