Richard St. John founded a successful marketing communications company, The St. John Group, and spent his first career helping hi-tech companies de-mystify and communicate their technology. He has won top awards, including best corporate video in the world and an IABC Gold Quill, the highest award in business communications.
He fell into his second career as a success expert by accident. One day a girl on a plane asked him “What really leads to success?” Even though he had achieved success, he couldn’t tell her how he did it. That started him on a 10-year journey, and face-to-face interviews with over 500 successful people, including Bill Gates, Martha Stewart, Richard Branson, Robin Williams, the Google founders, and DNA co-discoverer James Watson, to name a few. After analyzing and correlating all the data, St. John discovered the eight things that very successful people have in common. His findings are in the bestselling book 8 To Be Great, now being updated as Success in 8 Words.
He has been quoted as an expert on success by CNN and New York Daily News, and has appeared on all major US television networks and countless radio programs. He is featured in The Experts' Guide to Doing Things Faster, along with Richard Branson, Donald Trump and other leading experts in their fields.
St. John is an accomplished keynote speaker who has presented around the world. His talk “Richard St. John’s 8 Secrets of Success” on TED.com is rated tops in many categories: Most viewed, All Time Favorites, Most Inspirational, and Most Translated into Other Languages.
