The Swedish Government has decided to give the Government Agency of Digitalization, DIGG, the mission to manage Hack for Sweden. Initial focus is going to address the challenges our country faces connected to Covid-19. A virtual hackathon, Hack the Crisis Sweden, will therefore be arranged April 3-6. Hack for Sweden will arrange this together with the Government Agency of digitalization, DIGG. Director General, Anna Eriksson further announced that the event will be co-created together with Openhack.
Minister of Digitalization, Anders Ygeman states:
-Sweden as a society is facing great challenges as a result of Covid-19. Therefore it is imperative that we mobilize all good forces there is to meet the challenges public health, the economy and society face now. I encourage each and everyone to sign up at www.hackthecrisis.se to contribute to digital solutions who can help all who now are working hard to alleviate, or are affected by, the crisis. Solutions can range from critical resources to support for the people isolated.
The Hack the Crisis Sweden will gather all forces in our society who wants to be a part of the solutions we need for our future; public sector, private sector, academia, non-profit organizations and citizens are all welcome to contribute. Together, and only together, can we beat this!

Several countries are organizing similar Hack the Crisis right now, the movement started in Estonia where the Estonian President supported the Hack the Crisis Estonia. Several countries around the world are following in their footsteps to bring all good forces together to beat this pandemic. Hack the Crisis Sweden is now creating and inviting an ecosystem of partners and collaborators from all parts of society.
We can already announce that the following partners have joined forces with us, Openhack, AI Innovation of Sweden, SEB and we are now looking forward to many more joining us in the pursuit of overcoming the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hack for Sweden is an initiative to raise awareness and demonstrate the value of government agencies open data. It is a community consisting of over 100 partner organizations and individuals who want to create sustainable impact with the tool of open data. An annual 48-hour hackathon is the core event of Hack for Sweden.
