SSE MBA Executive Format 2019

January 28 marked the first stage of an 18-month journey for a new group of MBA students at the Stockholm School of Economics. 53 participants are enrolled in the SSE MBA Executive Format 2019 program, an intense learning experience that prepares them to build, lead and develop organizations. The program is designed for working professionals who, with the support of their employers, work full-time while pursuing their degrees.

The participants come from a broad range of industries and arrive with training in different academic fields and diverse cultural backgrounds.

“This is a great foundation for rich discussions and learning from each other, one of our educational cornerstones,” says Karin Wiström, Director SSE MBA.

Of those entering the program this year, 40 percent are women, 47 percent have origins outside Sweden with 19 countries represented in the group. The average age is 39.

“The experience in this group is very impressive, so we look forward to working with them over the next 18 months,” adds Wiström.

All participants carry out a series of live projects in their organizations. These are projects that create positive change and measurable value for the participating organizations and hands-on learning for the participants.

“I decided to pursue an MBA because I am currently in an executive position, but my education is not based in business,”says Mary Fisher, Interim Executive Director at the National Academy of Design, New York, and one of this year’s participants. “While I am comfortable in my role, the MBA will introduce new tools to improve my current skill set. As well, I am excited to expand my network and open doors to future positions.”

Other organizations represented in the group include ABB, Apsis, Handelsbanken Liv, Höganäs, IKEA Industri, Jajja Group, Nasdaq, Octapharma, Ramirent, Schibsted, Schneider Electric, Skanska, Södersjukhuset, Svea Skog, and Tele2.
