This year's MBA scholar is Himanshu Kataria, Industrialization Engineering Team Manager at IRnova AB

For the eleventh consecutive year, a scholarship is awarded for Executive MBA studies at the Stockholm School of Economics. The scholarship is given to a person who, by achievements to date and future potential, is expected to get maximum leverage of the program. By strengthening the leadership and expertise in responsible business development, the candidate will be able to operate for the benefit of the organization and be a good ambassador for Sweden. Particular emphasis is put on the person's potential to create new business through entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship and through Sweden-based business in an international market.

The 2018 MBA Scholarship is awarded to Himanshu Kataria, Industrialization Engineering Team Manager at IRnova AB, a Swedish high-tech company, with the following motivation:
"Himanshu is a courageous, perseverant and humble leader. He started his journey in India, and was the first member of his family to pursue higher education. Today he has a PhD from KTH in Microelectronics & Applied Physics and works with advanced infra-red detectors. His leadership has resulted in measurable improvements in IRnova ABs production processes and in the realization of their new & next generation products. Himanshu has successfully represented IRnova at many reputed international conferences, which is fundamental in order to sustain Swedish competitiveness in this niche technology. Through the SSE MBA program, Himanshu will receive solid general management knowledge to complement his existing strong technical skills. This will support him in achieving his full potential in current and future leadership roles.
With his experience, background and potential, Himanshu is a very worthy recipient of the 2018 MBA scholarship".

"Standing at the top of the global innovation index Sweden has continued with its legacy of being an innovation leader. Nevertheless, recent times have seen transfer of these production facilities to other countries, all credit to cost optimizations. Through this MBA opportunity I intend to identify ways to sustain high technology innovation in Sweden", says Himanshu Kataria.

The scholarship jury has consisted of Carl-Johan Bonnier, Chairman, Bonnier AB, Lotta Edling, Editor in Chief, Dagens Industri, Mattias Säker, CEO, utbildning.se, Lena Flykt Rosén, Head of Operations, Telia Zone and alumna of the Executive MBA program, and Karin Wiström, Director SSE MBA, Stockholm School of Economics.
