Hemnet launches live streamed open house viewings

​The spread of the coronavirus has had a major impact on everyday life around the world and open house viewings are no exception. Hemnet has swiftly changed its priorities for product development to create a solution for open house viewings without physical interaction. Hemnet is therefore offering all Swedish real estate agents the opportunity to live stream their open house viewings on Hemnet with the new feature Hemnet Live.

- The serious situation with the spread of Corona/Covid-19 demands us as a company to innovate. We have a responsibility to find new solutions that contribute to a slowdown of the spread of the infection. We are therefore giving all real estate agents access to a new feature for streaming open house viewings live online. This means that agents can reach a large group of potential buyers and sellers who can view the open house from the safety and comfort of their home, says Cecilia Beck-Friis, CEO of Hemnet.

​Hemnet Live is delivered in cooperation with the live video company Bambuser and a first beta version of the feature will be available for open house viewings during the coming weekend. Real estate agents can use their cellphones to show the property through a live stream which is displayed via the listing on Hemnet. Potential buyers who view from home will be able to post questions directly to real estate agents through a chat function.

​- We have worked really hard to deliver Hemnet Live as soon as possible. We are investing so that the real estate market will work as well as possible under the current conditions. Our surveys show that more than half of Hemnet’s visitors would view a live streamed open house online, provided that the quality was high enough. During current circumstances the demand for such service is likely to increase, says Cecilia Beck-Friis.

​Hemnet Live will be available free of charge for all real estate agents during an initial test period. To encourage the use of the service Hemnet will also account for costs of the first five open house viewings for each real estate agent in Sweden.

​In addition to live streamed open house viewings, Hemnet is also working on several other initiatives to simplify real estate transactions without physical interaction.
