Anders Ljungberg new professor of crafts at Konstfack

Silversmith Anders Ljungberg is our new professor of crafts with a special focus on jewellery art and corpus.

He comes to us from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts where he since 2014 has held the professorship in Metal and Jewellery Art. At Konstfack, he was first a student between 1989 and 1994, returning as a Senior Lecturer between 2000 and 2010. And now he's back once more!

Anders Ljungberg has exhibited, lectured and been a guest teacher around the world, while being based in Gustavsberg, where he both lives and has his studio. One of his favourite topics, which can clearly be seen in his artistry, is the relationship between human, object and space. During his time at Konstfack, he carried out the Degree Exhibition project Det emotionella brukandet and at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts he did an artistic development project called Re-Public jewellery.

Anders Ljungberg's ambitions for the programmes at both the Bachelor's and Master's levels are three-fold:

“I want to discuss views of jewellery art and corpus with the students; these membranes between the intimate and public spheres, and investigate how they relate to body, space and society. I also want to work to open up a brand new type of arena beyond the traditional gallery space, and let the pieces out in public more often. This is linked to the artist's role of always questioning and breaking boundaries based on given norms. Last but not least, I want to work with the students to put the entire concept of materiality under the microscope. I look forward to all of it!”
