Liseberg gives back to Gothenburg residents after another record year

Liseberg reports record profit for the second consecutive year, with a profit after financial items of SEK 122 million. And visitors will benefit from the year’s excellent results. In spring 2016, Liseberg will unveil a brand new area containing one of Gothenburg’s largest playgrounds, a double-decker carousel and a Victorian garden – at no extra cost for visitors.

Liseberg’s sales exceeded SEK 1 billion for the second consecutive year, totalling SEK 1,149 million (2014: SEK 1,085 million) Profit after financial items was SEK 122 million (2014: SEK 119 million).

“A very strong summer season and a Halloween season that exceeded all our expectations are the main reasons for these fantastic results,” says Andreas Andersen, CEO, Liseberg.

Liseberg had 3.1 million guests during the year, of which 205,000 visited during Halloween and 425,000 during Christmas at Liseberg.

“Strong profit is necessary in order to invest in developing the park,” says Andreas.

And Liseberg has really seen intensive development in recent years. Since 2011, over SEK 1 billion has been invested in new attractions including the new kids’ area Rabbit Land (2013), the Helix roller coaster (2014) and the impressive Mechanica (2015).

2016 will be no exception. A total of SEK 170 million is being invested in a brand new park area currently under construction on Liseberg hill, which stretches from AtmosFear in the north to FlumRide in the south. The new area, called Liseberg Gardens, has Victorian gardens, a walking path, a garden café, a double-decker carousel and a gigantic children’s playground. The area covers a total of 6,310 m2, of which 1,900 m2 is made up of plant beds and other greenery.

“The new area is our way of giving back to the residents of Gothenburg. Liseberg is their meeting place above all,” says Andreas.

In addition to the free attractions, a large family attraction will be installed in the area. Its name, design and rides will be revealed on 19 February at 8:00.
