Nobel Peace Laureate Tawakkol Karman visits the Nobel Museum

On the International Women’s Day (Saturday March 8), 35-year old Yemeni journalist and peace activist Tawakkol Karman will visit the Nobel Museum to speak on women’s rights. Tawakkol Karman was awarded the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, shared with Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Leymah Gbowee, “for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work”.

“We are increadibly happy that Tawakkol Karman will visit the Nobel Museum. It emphasizes our belief that every single person has the opportunity to contribute to a better world. Tawakkol Karman’s groundbreaking work for human rights show that ideas really can change the world” says Helena Martinsson, Head of Communications at the Nobel Museum.

The lecture is organized in cooperation with Svenska PostkodLotteriet. The event begins at 2 pm, is held in Arabic and will be interpreted into Swedish. Reserve your seat at event@nobelmuseum.se.
