Nordic.js announces it’s first speakers, the list of names includes Douglas Crockford, Ellen Sundh, Tom Dale and Tiffany Conroy

Nordic.js is a two-day single track conference all about Javascript. The conference will take place at the beautiful art space Artipelag, out in the archipelago of Stockholm on the 18-19th September, 2014 and it’s the first of it’s kind. Their main sponsors include Hiq, Iteam, Goo technologies, Microsoft, Valtech, Dynabyte, Klarna, Glesys, Svt, Amazon and Bryntum.

Nordic.js's mission is to bring together some of the most interesting and passionate developers not only from the nordics, but from around the globe. Today they’re releasing their first speakers - the list of names includes Douglas Crockford, Ellen Sundh, Tom Dale and Tiffany Conroy.

Douglas Crockford, Paypal

Douglas Crockford was born in the Frostbite Falls, Minnesota, but left when he was only six months old because it was just too damn cold. He turned his back on a promising career in television when he discovered computers. He has worked in learning systems, small business systems, office automation, games, interactive music, multimedia, location-based entertainment, social systems, and programming languages. He is the inventor of Tilton, the ugliest programming language that was not specifically designed to be an ugly programming language. He is best known for having discovered that there are good parts in JavaScript. This was an important and unexpected discovery. He also discovered the JSON Data Interchange Format, the world's most loved data format. And he works at Paypal.

Ellen Sundh, Coda Collective

Ellen has a long time developer background, and she knows the current publishing platforms and programming environments as her own backyard. With a strong focus on interactive media, Ellen has fought on the front-line of the web, mobile and social media.

With her interest for electronics, new digital campaigns has evolved from pure hardware and user interactions into physical installations affected by users’ online activity. She was the main developer behind The Sound of Football project.  Ellen has also built a shoe rack that cries when there’s no shoes on it and a soda machine that spits out soda when you tweet about certain topics, just to mention a few of her projects. She previously freelanced as a Creative Technologist, working with some of the leading interactive agencies in Sweden and UK, such as: Society 46, Great works, Starring, Dancing Bee And Digit London. Ellen was voted the 3rd most creative person in the web industry in Sweden by Internet World 2012.

Tom Dale, Ember.js

Tom is a member of the Ember.js core team, and was previously on the SproutCore team. He spends his daytime hours at the startup he founded, Tilde Inc. He's a former Apple software engineer who gained expert front-end JavaScript skills while working on the MobileMe and iCloud applications.

Tiffany Conroy, Soundcloud

Tiffany Conroy is a Canadian living in Berlin doing front-end development and interaction design at SoundCloud. She is a self-taught JavaScript programmer with a mostly dusty degree in electrical engineering. She is a co-organizer of JSConf EU, BerlinJS, and is the creator of http://weareallaweso.me.

One of the organizers, Johannes Edelstam says: “We’re really excited over the huge interest we’ve gotten for the conference, and even more so over the response we’ve gotten from all the speakers that we’ve approached - we can’t wait to share the rest of the line up.”

The tickets for the conference are to be release on Thursday at 5 pm (CEST), they’re priced at

€350 and can be bought at http://nordicjs.com.
