New York celebrated Swedish artist moves into Nordic Light Hotel for 28 days of live art creation.

Artist OKOK will have his first ever art studio in the lobby of Nordic Light Hotel / The Crooked Leg in Stockholm, Sweden, between September 8th and October 5th. There he will paint for 28 days straight for an exhibition and opening party October 10th.

November 2013, after 8 years of working as a music manager for artists like Adam Tensta and Michel Dida, OKOK (Thomas Karl-Johan Gunnarsson) decided to fully focus on his own career. With two exhibitions in Stockholm and one in New York, he is now ready for his most exciting project so far.

Besides painting, he’s also the man behind the worlds most known Instagram feed for tags and throw-ups (@tagsandthrows) - the backbone of graffiti. With 69.000 followers, he’s posting black and white pictures of graffiti names from all over the world.

From September 8th until October 5th, he will be living at Nordic Light Hotel in Stockholm and paint/sketch live in the restaurant The Crooked Leg as his first own studio. Guests are welcome to interact with him and this is the first time he will use a larger format in his artwork.

“Getting the chance to work with Nordic Light Hotel and use its restaurant as my studio is big for me. I had never had my own studio and have in recent months been painting in a sublet apartment. This opportunity will make me develop as an artist. I look forward to sharing my process forward as an artist with the rest of the world.”  says OKOK.

Nordic Light Hotel is a member of Design Hotels and always scouts for new ways to show art and design. The rarely new restaurant project in the hotel, The Crooked Leg, has since its opening invited djs and hosted events for an artistic group of people. This installation will give the guests an extra ordinary experience and attract creative people from the industry.

“We have never done something like this before and I like the idea of a well-known painter using our property to create art in real time. Creative souls are always inspiring to work with.” says Marcus Majewski, Director of Nordic Light Hotel and The Crooked Leg.

On October 10th a vernissage will take place where revenue from some paintings will be donated to charity organizations.
