Season II kicks off in Oslo in January with a huge program including some of the best roasters in Scandinavia, international judges, innovative competition rounds, tonnes of giveaways and a huge after party.

The following day will also launch the first of The Barista Leagues auxiliary events- “Inside the dirty mind of a roaster”. This event will provide baristas with a unique opportunity to learn from some of the world’s best coffee roasters. Attendees will get an insight into what really makes these roasters so great - their palate, experience and ability to analyse the character and potential of different coffees.

Season II

The events will be hosted by some of the leading members of the Nordic coffee community and aims to promote both a more vibrant local scene, as well as a more interconnected community in northern Europe. With consistently positive feedback from competitors, judges and spectators alike, The Barista League is making coffee fun again. The competition is based on three ever changing rounds focused on barista skills, sensory skills and a fun mystery round that has seen baristas handcuffed together and grinding coffee with hammers.

Started in 2015 by Swedish barista champion, Steven Moloney, the event has grown exponentially becoming the biggest barista competition in the Nordic countries. With 78 competitors in just the last three events and a total attendance of over 400 passionate coffee professionals and aficionados, it is clear that The Barista League is becoming a hub of Northern Europe’s barista community.

‘I wanted to create a competition with no barriers to entry. Anyone can show up and compete. No fees, no equipment, no training, just come and compete, have fun and drink some beers together. I wanted to put the focus and the emphasis on the baristas, not the winners or who has the most expensive coffee.’ – Steven Moloney.

The Barista League is Scandanavia’s most exciting and fastest growing barista competition. Eschewing the traditional barista competitions, there are no entry fees, intimidating judges or long rule books, instead it is just teams of two making coffee and drinking beers together.
