Scandic Foods Asia participated in SIAL in a continued effort to promote Scandinavian food and beverages on the Chinese market. A range of 21 Scandinavian brands were on display, such from Spendrups, Friggs, Felix, Paulun’s, Jokk, Orkla, Oatly, Guttsta Källa, Krönlein and other well-known Swedish food manufacturers as well as several manufacturers from Finland.
“The Chinese imported food market is growing with 27 % per year to satisfy the ever increasing Chinese new middle class. We have been growing with over 300% now the third year in a row.”, says Scandic Foods Asia’s CEO Per Linden and concludes that the fair was very successful.
This year, Scandic Foods Asia expanded their booth size to over 80 square meters of exhibition space, capturing the interest of everyone passing by. “We keep expanding the exhibition space every year to fit more and more products from our ever increasing supplier base”, says Per Linden. This was Scandic Foods Asia’s third consecutive exhibition at SIAL.
Chinese distributors and retail chains as well as food bloggers and media stream to SIAL Shanghai every year to discover food trends and find goods for their stores and supermarkets. Many came by Scandic Foods Asia’s booth and were treated with a culinary experience delivered by jam from FELIX, breakfast cereals from Paulun’s, Oatmilk from Oatly, as well as Swedish soft drinks, beer, jam, crackers and crisp bread, which could be rinsed down with beer such as Norrlands Guld, Mariestad and Stockholm Festival. The food and drinks were offered by Swedish and Chinese staff dressed in Swedish national dresses, leaving lasting impressions on the many visitors and enforcing the positive associations already related to Scandinavian food in China.
