Compuware Covisint to Detail Use of Technology in Saving Money and Increasing Quality of Care; Real-world Examples to Illustrate Healthcare IT Successes

SAN DIEGO, Gartner Healthcare Summit
Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ: CPWR) today announced that Compuware Covisint will, at the Gartner Healthcare Summit, showcase to attendees how healthcare payers and providers can increase healthcare quality and efficiency through better IT practices. Brett Furst, Covisint Vice President of Healthcare, will present the benefits received by Covisint customers, including BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina (BlueCross) and United Physicians.

"The challenge for healthcare providers is to save lives while also saving money, both of which are increasingly possible when healthcare organizations apply the right technology--technology that Covisint is uniquely positioned to supply," said Furst. "Compuware Covisint will offer Gartner Healthcare Summit attendees a glimpse of the real-world value that BCBSSC and United Physicians have received, including increased efficiencies, improved access to information and enhanced collaboration."

For healthcare payers, Covisint will highlight how its solution has contributed towards BlueCross' improved provider satisfaction and communications, while helping to reduce administrative costs. One of the ways BlueCross has achieved this is by leveraging Covisint's technology to enable streamlined processes in exchanging clinical information with providers.

"BlueCross serves more than one million South Carolinians, is a top employer in the state and is considered to be one of the top Blues in the nation. Ultimately, much of the value we provide and the efficiencies we gain all happen because of technology," said David Boucher, Assistant Vice President HealthCare Services for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. "Compuware Covisint excels at helping healthcare payers like us communicate and collaborate with our stakeholders, efficiently and effectively." BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.

For healthcare providers, Covisint will show how to effectively enable collaboration across members within an independent physician association (IPA). This is accomplished through secure access to multiple, third-party applications, patient records and streamlining administrative and clinical workflows. Covisint will demonstrate a unique combination of technology that United Physicians--a 1,700 member IPA--has implemented, including a new physician desktop portal, to enable improved and efficient collaboration across its members and affiliated health systems.

Last year at the Gartner Healthcare Summit, Covisint was a nominee for "Solution with the Greatest Market Potential." Covisint is uniquely positioned to mitigate the cost of entry and accelerate the time-to-value for key healthcare initiatives with its hosted service. Covisint recently announced that it has leveraged its existing infrastructure to provide a collaborative exchange that enables the access to and improved visibility of critical healthcare information. More information about Covisint's healthcare offering is located at www.covisint.com.

Covisint currently connects more than 8,000 healthcare users representing 420 healthcare organizations with its hosted healthcare solution providing secure, reliable and real-time access to healthcare information.
