Stockholm, February 3rd, 2011 – Tritech today announced that is has become a Contributor member of the IPSO Alliance, the organization defining the “Internet of Things.” By joining IPSO, Tritech will continue efforts in providing open and scalable end-to- IP-based radio communication solutions for demanding machine-to-machine applications.
“Our membership represents a global presence, reinforcing the strong support and demand for IP for smart objects,” said Chairman of the IPSO Alliance, Geoff Mulligan. “Working jointly with Tritech in the smart metering and M2M area will continue to pave the way for IP to be a key component in the energy management market."
“Tritech has delivered mesh-radio based communication solutions for Smart Objects for a number of years, with smart metering as one of our key markets. Joining IPSO was a logical next step and is a key component in driving the use of end-to-end and all-IP machine-to-machine communications, ,” says Christer Österlind, Business Unit Manager for Tritech Products. “Horizontal segmentation and specialization based on scalable and open standards, i.e. the transition to all-IP solutions, will be crucial for the energy sector and indeed for all areas involving Smart Objects to meet customer requirements on functionality, price and scalability. “

“Meshnet by Tritech” is the result of more than 10 years of development and deployment of large-scale wireless mesh networks. In close cooperation with our customers Tritech has developed the concept of radio mesh networking into an industrial grade communication solution for smart metering and other demanding M2M applications. By the end of 2010 more than 200.000 devices were in service in Sweden, Finland, Norway, U.K. and the Netherlands.
Meshnet is a solution owned by Tritech AB, a Swedish research and engineering company founded in 1991, with over 130 employees. Tritech is today the leading European of meshed networking solutions for M2M communication.
About IPSO Alliance
The IPSO Alliance is the primary advocate for IP networked devices for use in energy, consumer, healthcare and industrial applications. The IPSO Alliance is a non-profit association of more than 50 members from leading technology, communications and energy companies. The Alliance’s mission is to enable the foundation for a network that will allow any sensor-enabled physical object to communicate to another, just as individuals do over the Internet. Membership is open to any organization supporting an IP-based approach to connecting smart objects. For more information, visit www.ipso-alliance.org.
