Finland Post concentrates IT operations services with TietoEnator

Pressmeddelande   •   Okt 05, 2004 17:00 CEST

Finland Post and TietoEnator have agreed to build a Datacenter, a new central server environment that will house all the Post's business-critical IT system environments. The aim of the project is to improve cost-efficiency and control in the Post's IT services.

Under this outsourcing agreement TietoEnator Group will take on nine employees, on their existing terms of contract, from Finland Post's subsidiary IT Optimo on the date of signing. The servers, currently operated by several service providers, will be moved to TietoEnator immediately the project starts.

Finland Post has also signed a three-year operations services purchase agreement with TietoEnator covering the services now to be provided by the Datacenter. This agreement takes effect on 5 October 2004.

"Our aim through this outsourcing agreement is to seek greater cost-efficiency by concentrating services on one provider. We are also looking for a clear improvement in service quality, better control in problem situations, and adequate resources during future development projects," said Markku Saarela, Chief Information Officer at Finland Post.

"Providing operating services is not part of IT Optimo's strategy. For Finland Post, concentration on a single supplier offers a great opportunity to benefit further from TietoEnator's experience and from some of the best operating models in this business," commented Jari Annala, Managing Director, IT Optimo.

"The Datacenter operating services agreement is a natural extension of the long-standing collaboration between the Post and ourselves. TietoEnator offers the Post reliability and the expertise of a specialist in outsourced IT services," stated Veli Pirttiaho, Vice President, TietoEnator.
